From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At just after 4 pm on Saturday August 5, 2017 a grob glider N102BK departed kmnn (Marion Municipal Airport Ohio) under tow from runway 31. After lift off the aircraft was reported to have a high nose up pitch attitude and began to cause the tow plane to jerk its tail around. At this time witnesses on the ground from the glider club it was owned by noticed the aircraft spoilers were deployed. The tow plane pilot estimates the tow cable was released at around 150 feet AGL. It was released from the glider end. The glider then began a steep bank to the right where it struck a tree with the right wing. This spun the glider around and it impacted the ground facing the tree it had struck. The aircraft incurred substantial damage and the pilot has serious injuries including a fractured pelvis, sacrum, ribs and internal bleeding.
