From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Friday October 6, 2017 at 2004 a freight runners express, inc. Beech 99 N399CZ departed from oshkosh wittman airport (kosh) oshkosh, WI for Mitchell international airport (kmke) Milwaukee, WI. While in the rotation the pilot noted an animal crossing the aircraft from right to left. The pilot the heard a thud and feeling a bump of the impact with the animal.

Upon achieving a positive rate the pilot selected gear up and noted and unsafe gear indication. The pilot selected gear down and received a green nose gear indication and unsafe main gear. Following the mechanical system landing gear manual extension checklist, the pilot was able to obtain a green locked indication on the left main landing gear. While circling the oshkosh area crash fire trucks were deployed to runway 18 at oshkosh. The pilot elected to continue to trouble shoot the right gear unsafe indication in consult with the company.

A decision was made to divert the aircraft to Milwaukee (kmke) while continuing to resolve the unsafe indication. Once at kmke the pilot flew a low approach to verify the gear position and tower did state that it looked to be in the down position. The pilot feathered the right engine on short final and elected to use a zero flap landing configuration. When the aircraft touched down the right gear collapsed causing the wing tip to drag on the ground.

Post examination of the landing gear found that the animal impact caused the right landing gear to be unable to obtain a down and locked position.

Oshkosh airport operations did a runway inspection after the report of an impact and located a coyote that the aircraft had hit.

As the FAA filed it
