From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 13, 2017 at approximately 1000 hours, UH1 aircraft N247PV experienced a collective surge while attempting to re-position to a landing cart from the base wash rack.

The pilot^/owner^ stated that when the collective control surged upward that he attempted to lower the collective and struck the landing cart with the front end of the skids causing them to fracture approximately 18 inches from the front tips.

The pilot then attempted to complete the landing to the cart but due to the lack of collective control he sat the aircraft down too FAR to the right of the cart causing the right aircraft skid to slip off of the cart edge resulting in the aircraft rolling onto it's right side.

The pilot completed an emergency shutdown of the aircraft after sustaining substantial damage to the main rotor, tail rotor, transmission and airframe. Flying debris from the accident aircraft also damaged two of the owners fixed wing aircraft that were parked nearby.

The investigating inspector found the pilot to be forthcoming, cooperative, and to have a compliant attitude. A search of the faa's databases did not disclose any previous violations, accident, or incident history.

As the FAA filed it

THIS REPORT MAY BE REVISED WITH ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE.
