From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman flew earlier in the day and was unhappy with his landing so he went up again for landing practice and stayed in the traffic pattern. The airman was using runway 18 and estimated about a 6 knot crosswind. The first landing was to a full-stop and uneventful. On the second landing the airman said the landing was okay, he may have been a little fast and he was trying to make the turn off at taxiway c. when he applied the handbrake (no toe brakes in this model) he started skidding and went off the left side of 18, through the grass and then up onto runway 27 where the airplane stopped. The nose gear collapsed upon impact with the pavement edge of runway 27 and the right wingtip was dragged on runway 27.
