From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot was returning from a solo cross country to kmiv. He stated the winds were reported calm on AWOS. Upon landing on runway 24, he felt all three wheels touch down, but the aircraft was pointed to the left. A correction was not made in time and the aircraft went off the side of the runway. The left wing hit a tree, and swung the aircraft 180 degrees, shearing the nose gear off the aircraft, damaging the nose and wing. The pilot was uninjured.
