From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 10/22/2017 at 0430 CDT above aircraft with pilot and co-pilot onboard for a positioning flight reported vibration on RH engine. The aircraft returned to departure airport kpwa and landed without further issue.

After landing inspection revealed a medium to large bird had struck RH nose of aircraft(tissue/feathers) sustained minor damage and RH engine sustained moderate damage, requiring first stage fan replacement. RH engine was not shut down until after landing. Pilot stated that it was dark at the time of departure and was unaware of the impact and just had a vibration on the RH engine.

The aircraft has been inspected by the factory and a fan change and balance was completed at kpwa, the forward fuselage skin is going to be replaced due to waviness in an unpressurized area in kict. No issues noted with pilot or aircraft records. A wildlife strike report no. 2017-10-22-064338 has been filed and a special flight permit issued to reposition aircraft to the Bombardier repair station in kict. This matter is considered closed.
