From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 16, 2018 at approximately 18:45, a Velocity experimental aircraft, model Xlrg, N551ZL, attempted to land at Mallards Landing in Locust Grove, Georgia. On the first approach, the owner determined he was too high, too fast and aborted the Landing and performed a go around procedure for another attempt. On the second approach the owner was distracted by people on the ground talking to him on the radio and failed to run the ?before Landing check list? Which resulted in not lowering the gear for Landing. Weather at time of Landing winds calm, visibility clear.
