From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot with passenger entered runway 25 at south midfield taxiway and stopped with nose about 15 degrees north of runway to reduce crosswind effect during takeoff. Final checks good, no flaps takeoff was attempted. As throttle was advanced aircraft immediately wanted to fly. Crosswind caught aircraft. Pilot input aileron and rudder to counter wind. Left wing (down wind side) started to drag on runway. Aircraft cartwheeled as propeller and engine struk ground neer vertical. Aircraft stopped upside down and rotated 180 degrees from takeoff heading. Main landing gear was collapsed and engine was severed from firewall. Pilot and passenger extracted themselves from aircraft.
