From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was on an IFR flight plan from lunken airport, cincinnati, oh (kluk) to Gainesville, GA (kgvl) on may 6, 2018. The flight was cleared for a visual approach to runway 29 at Gainesville. While turning base to final the aircraft experienced moderate turbulence. According to the pilot the winds were reported 310@25G35. The pilot decided to use a final approach speed of 100 knots and limit flaps to the approach setting. During the flare the aircraft hit the runway unexpectedly. The pilot initiated a go-around and added full power. The aircraft struck the runway a second time and the pilot continued the go-around. The pilot then decided to divert to winder, GA (kwdr). The landing at winder was normal. Upon exiting the runway the pilot noticed that the nose wheel was flat. A local mechanic repaired the nose wheel and the aircraft was flown back to kluk. The pilot did not notice the damage until the aircraft was cleaned several days later.
