From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omitted(Advocate for the PIC and passenger) was asked to give a brief description of accident involving N5554X and a deer at mtv which occured on 6-1-2018 at approximately 1430 EDT. On takeoff the aircraft had rotated when a deer crossed the runway and "jumped" into the airplane. No engine vibration was noted and the airplane was flying "ok". A call to ground personnel in mtv was made and one or two fly-by were conducted to ascertain any damage. None was reported so the pilot elected to fly gear down to hbi (the owner's maintenance base). The mechanic was unable to inspect the airplane until later so the pilot contacted his "advocate" privacy data omitted at approximately 1530 EDT. When the mechanic was able to look at the plane he noted a broken rear spar and the pilot relayed this information to privacy data omitted who advised them that he would contact the NTSB regarding substantial damage. He talked with someone named privacy data omitted at the NTSB at 1753 EDT for 10 minutes on June 1.
