What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During a 180 degree power off approach, just prior to touchdown, the PIC (CFI - pilot not flying, in the left seat) heard the prop striking the runway. He realized the landing gear was not down, and commanded the SIC (pilot flying, a CFI student) to go around. They flew the pattern with no difficulties or noticeable engine roughness, extended the gear normally, and landed. Post flight inspection revealed damage to the prop tips, inboard left flap, and step.
During repair, the gear warning horn was found to be inoperative, and even after adjustment attempts, was barely audible.
During the incident, the crew received no gear warning from the ATC tower.
