What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 10/19/2018, student pilot privacy data omitted, taxied Piper warrior N8222N to the south of a construction zone of the main ramp at Greene County Airport, Waynesburg, PA. The pilot reported that in an effort to remain clear of the orange construction cones, to his left, he failed to avoid a cement filled metal pole, to his right. The right wing struck the pole near the outer tip damaging the leading edge and causing the aircraft to pivot to the right forcing the propeller and spinner into a cyclone fenced gate. The propeller blades and spinner were significantly damaged and the engine suffered a sudden stopage. Additional damage exists at the trailing edge of the right wing root where the right flap inboard end was forced into the fuselage. There was additional damage at the floor inside the baggage compartment.
