From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The airman was doing a solo training flight at a lake near the airport (2.5 miles from the airport). At the end of his flight he called the klee tower inbound. Tower told him to report 2 mile right base for runway 31, but later amended his clearance for a straight in runway 31. After touchdown the airman felt a vibration, and when the airplane came to a complete stop he realized that he had forgotten to put the gear down.
