From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Returning from an aerobatic sortie while descending to land the aircraft suffered a cabin decompensation and then the rear cockpit canopy failed. Pilot made a safe landing and taxi to the hanger. Post incident walk around discover that the canopy hinged stay attached to the aircraft and the canopy glass and frame broke but still attached to the aircraft by outboard strap assembly that sandwich canopy frame glass together. Canopy glass material ingested into the engine and damage to the right wing and horizontal leading edge occurred.
