From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot of N6814B was landing runway 9 at kigq, Lansing Municipal Airport. The pilot had a higher than normal airspeed on final approach. As the pilot held the nose wheel off the ground in an effort to maximize aerodynamic braking, the pilot lost control and the airplane veered off the left side of the runway. The nose of the airplane struck an elevated drainage grate, collapsing the nose wheel and flipping the airplane onto its nose. The pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured. And, there was no post-incident fire. Post-incident inspection of the aircraft indicates flight control continuity at the time of the incident.

As the FAA filed it
