From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

FAA received anonymous notification of accident in starr county and provided aircraft owners number. Contacted owner who stated he did not report accident due to aircraft has been moved and will be scrapped. Requested pilots information. Pilot stated was reposition flight to ranch. During cruise engine overheat occurred and power loss began. Performed emergency landing and aircraft flipped over. Prior to the accident being reported, pilot and owner cut aircraft up and loaded on a trailer and piled in scrapped yard on ranch. Inspection revealed no obvious signs of cause, due to access to engine and it had been left upside down still cowled.
