From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot attempted a landing on runway 36 at antique airfield (IA27) in blakesburg Iowa. The pilot aborted landing after a hard touchdown and was able to get the aircraft airborne again. The pilot suspected damage to the landing gear due to hard landing. The damage was verified by a low pass flyby and another aircraft was also sent up to verify the landing gear was damaged.

The pilot decided to divert to the Ottumwa airport (otm) where emergency services are available. The pilot attempted to land in the grass parallel to runway 04. When the right landing gear touched down the aircraft nosed over and came to rest upside down.
