From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

When landing on runway 36 at Wauchula FL (kchn), which is a non-towered airport, the pilot experienced a runway excursion while landing with a starboard, quartering tailwind. When the aircraft left the right hand side of the runway the aircraft flipped over stopping adjacent to the runway facing south. Substantial damage occurred to the empennage and the pilot sustained minor injuries. During the interview with the pilot, he stated that just after touchdown he encountered a wind gust that forced him to the right and off the runway and when the aircraft left the pavement it flipped over. The nearest reported winds is from bartow, FL (kbow) and the reported winds at that time were 120 degrees at 8 KTS with gusts to 14 KTS. Kbow is 26.15 nautical mile north of kchn at a course of 011 degrees.
