From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 1218 local time N122SS, Cessna 172, was being operated by a private pilot engaged in takeoff and landing practice at Omaha Millard Airport (kmle). The aircraft had completed 5 takeoff and landings utilizing runway 12 without event. During the next takeoff and landing the aircraft was operated utilizing runway 30 at the discretion of the pilot in command. Reported winds during the operation were variable from 190 to 230 at 5 knots as reported by AWOS facility on the field. Upon landing touchdown and rollout the aircraft was observed to yaw sharply to the left to nearly perpendicular to the runway centerline. The aircraft then moved toward the left edge of the runway as the pilot attempted to regain directional control. When nearly parallel to the runway the left main landing gear departed the paved surface and entered the snow covered grass area adjacent to the runway. The aircraft proceeded to exit the paved surface and again yaw sharply to the left and skid in the grass area. The pilot regained directional control of the aircraft as it exited the grass and entered the paved ramp area, impacting a taxi light along its path. Once reaching the pave ramp area the pilot regained full control of the aircraft, and proceeded to taxi the aircraft to parking without further incident. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the left main landing gear strut fairing due to impact with the taxiway light. One taxiway light was damaged and required replacement.

As the FAA filed it
