From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft was on approach to smf r/w 34L with the intent to leave the aircraft at a maintenance provider to accomplish scheduled maintenance. The crew reported they thought they had a bird strike on short final. The aircraft sat for a month awaiting the scheduled maintenance. During the performance of the scheduled maintenance, it was discovered that the left main landing gear outboard door was damaged by a bird impact. The maintenance provider determined that the best action was to replace the damaged gear door with a new unit.
