From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While on an instrument flight plan from ewn to opf with 2 souls aboard, during climb phase at approximately 12,000?, approximately 60 miles sw of ewn, a bird struck the pilots side front facing windshield, shattering the outer glass. The inner glass was not damaged and there was no change in cabin pressure. Pilot slowed the aircraft, switched to RH seat, reversed course, and began a slow descent into ewn. Pilot did not declare an emergency, and landed at ewn without incident.
