From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot experienced a complete communications system failure due to a loose connection on the generator while in the traffic pattern at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, Florida (kevb). He landed without incident on runway 29, pulled off to the right (north) side of runway 29 at the intersection of taxiway delta(d) and stopped the aircraft. The pilot then retrieved a hand held radio to re-establish communications with the air traffic control tower (ATC). Upon re-establishing communications, ATC instructed the pilot to taxi back east on runway 29 and continue to his hangar area. To facilitate the taxi back, the pilot started a 180 degree turn to the left then hit a taxi sign that was not in view, with the right wing tip and knocked the sign off its' mounts. There was no damage to the aircraft.
