From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot reported that he had recently purchased the aircraft and was not fully familiar with the operation and flight characteristics of that make and model. Reported that upon arrival to krdd winds were gusting to 32 KTS and may have created a distraction and inappropriate flap setting. This caused as he termed, poi, pilot induced occilation. This caused the aircraft to land hard, collapsing the fixed landing gear, damaging the propeller and minor damage to the leading edge of the cowling. Pilot did not report injuries.
