From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot in command (PIC) was on a flight from grand island, NE (gri) to jasper county airport, IN (rzl) after purchasing the aircraft. When the PIC began the descent into rzl, he reduced power and stated the throttle was stiff and difficult to move. During this time, the engine lost power. The pilot attempted to restart the engine without success. The pilot elected to make an off-field landing in a field 2 NM to the southwest of the airport.

On landing, the aircraft sustained damage to the propeller, upper engine cowling and nose landing gear. The gear was collapsed in the mud but attached to the aircraft.
