From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot utilized a battery operated hand tow bar to move the aircraft prior to a planned local flight in the Mammoth Lakes, California area. The tow bar was never disconnected after moving the aircraft. The pilot then started, taxied, and departed runway 09 at the mmh airport and retracted the gear. When the gear retracted, it made a loud noise. The pilot then know what had happened. He lowered the gear, but noticed only green lights for the mains. He declared an emergency, waited for the emergency vehicles to arrive, then executed a normal landing on runway 27. The nose settled onto the runway during the last part of the roll out, causing minor damage to the gear doors, radome, and propeller tips.
