From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman, landed at the Perris Valley Airport (L65). He was unfamiliar with the airport as he normally lands at french valley (F70). He realized that french valley was closed due to runway resurfacing and chose to divert to the Perris Valley Airport and landed without incident.

The next morning the pilot went to the Perris Valley Airport to fly back to van nuys airport (vny). The pilot was taxiing his aircraft to the runway on what he thought was a taxiway. However, the area he thought was a taxiway was a road utilized for vehicles and airport equipment. The airport does not have an actual taxiway. Pilots back taxi on the runway to their parking area.

As he taxied to the runway the left wing of the C-182 struck a tractor that was parked to the side off of the road. The aircraft spun 180 degrees and came to a rest in a ditch next to the roadway.

Damage is visible to the leading edge of the left wing and underneath the left wing, the horizontal stabilizer and the vertical stabilizer.

As the FAA filed it
