From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PIC was an instructor and the passenger was a student. On this day they were practicing glassy water landings at lake dora, Florida with the student at the controls.

On the eighth and last landing they completed their checks and were making a stabilized approach with a 100FT/MIN descent.

Upon touchdown they began to porpoise. The instructor (PIC) took control, retarded the throttle and held the landing attitude. The aircraft came to a stop. They heard water leaking in and taxied close to shore and evacuated the aircraft as it began to sink.

Damage to the aircraft as a result of the porpoising during landing was minor. There were no injuries.
