From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot arrived to the airport at 18:45 l on 05/24/2020. Pilot used to base older aircraft (high-wing) at field and was familiar with general orientation. Upon entering left traffic for runway 24 (winds favored) a slightly high approach was made to ensure clearing trees on the approach end of runway. Upon clearing trees and entering the flare pilot stated that the aircraft floated further than expected (last aircraft owned was a high wing). Due to high temperatures, lighter headwind than expected and more pronounced ground effect more runway was used. At this point pilot indicated that a go around would not have allowed him to clear the trees on the departure end of runway. Committed, he landed the aircraft, overran the runway and attempted to steer onto the road before coming to rest on small embankment on other side of roadway.

As the FAA filed it
