From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot of a Mooney M20K flying at cruise flight over Twentynine palms, CA experienced engine surges and loss of engine power. The pilot made an emergency landing at the Crosswinds Airport (2CA3) runway 10 and overran the end of the runway. The aircraft then hit a dirt berm, which caused the nose gear to collapse and come to rest. The pilot was the sole person on board, no injuries reported, and the damage to the aircraft was minor.
