From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A student pilot was operating N87JA, a Cessna 172 on a solo VFR flight from kpwk (chicago executive airport) to C81 (Campbell Airport) for landing practice. The pilot had completed two touch and go landings, and was on the third landing of the day, this time was planned for a full stop. On touch down the pilot perceived a faster than normal groundspeed. The pilot elected for aborting the roll out, and to initiate a go around. After application of takeoff power, the aircraft departed the left side of the prepared surface of runway 09, due to a loss of control. After departing the prepared surface the takeoff was aborted. The aircraft struck multiple runway lights. The aircraft was then taxied onto the taxiway, and taxied to the fixed base operator. Upon post flight inspection, there were multiple gashes in the aircraft fuselage, and evidence that the propeller had struck an object. It was also noted that the flaps were inoperative and stuck at the approximately 20 degree position.
