From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed appleton, WI (atw) at 2130 for Brennand Airport (79C) to pick up his girlfriend and her mother to watch the fireworks from the air. On approach to 79C runway 36, the pilot witnessed fireworks directly in front of him and circled around to runway 18. On landing, the pilot recalled an excessive period of floating while in ground effect and bounced twice before fully weighted on the runway. This occurred after designated go-around decision point and he determined that a full landing to be safer alternate to attempting to take off on the remaining runway and with fireworks in departure path. The aircraft overshot runway into the grass, through a ditch and came to rest on breezewood lane.
