From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was attempting to land on runway 22 at kpgd, Punta Gorda Airport. The pilot said that he had already attempted to land once, and did a go-around due to the wind. The second time, the pilot felt that the wind was more favorable and continued the approach. While in the flare, it appears that the pilot leveled the wings and removed all crosswind correction. This resulted in the aircraft drifting to the left. The aircraft landed with the left main wheel off the runway. The pilot attempted to sharply steer the aircraft back onto the runway, which caused excessive side loading on the nose gear resulting in the nose gear collapsing.

As the FAA filed it
