From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that while enroute from klxt to kalo, he noticed the aircraft beginning to oscillate from side to side, and he saw that cylinders #5 and 6 were running hot. He cooled the engine by reducing power, opening the cowl flaps, and beginning a descent. He performed an uneventful precautionary landing at kgph.

The pilot stated that he ran the aircraft on the ground at kgph for approximately 15 minutes, with no performance defects noted. He decided to return to klxt. At approximately 4 miles from departure, the engine again began overheating, the aircraft began oscillating, and it was unable to maintain altitude. The pilot performed an emergency landing on a road, coming to rest in a ditch.
