From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed long island airport (NC26) headed south in VFR conditions with calm winds. Pilot decided to make a water landing approximately 2 miles south of NC26 on the main channel of lake norman but failed to ensure the landing gear was in the proper position for a water landing. Due to the landing gear being in the wrong position for a water landing, the aircraft received minor damage. The passenger was uninjured and the pilot sustained minor injury. Aircraft was determined to be airworthy and the pilot was current and qualified.
