From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During the take-off roll the pilot noticed the engine lost power and initiated a gentle right turn, in an effort to avoid trees and houses off the end of the runway, as the pilot started the turn he struck a one and a half inch diameter well pipe that was attached to a fence post at the end of the runway. The strike caused the aircraft to rotate to the right, the propeller made contact with the ground, the left wing dipped and made contact with the ground and was bent in an upward direction, the left wing folded back against the fuselage, the plane turned/spun to the left and the right wing struck a small tree approximately 2 feet inboard of the wing tip the wing tip struck the ground and was broken off the airplane came to rest approximately 30 feet forward of the last impact mark and caught fire.
