From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narritive:

Schweizer G-164B agcat. P&w R-985 (450 HP). Engine failed to maintain sufficient power shortly after takeoff and landed in a cornfield with mature crops causing the aircraft to nose over to the inverted position after a short roll out. The pilot exited the aircraft without injury and stated the engine did not quit completely but had insufficient power to remain aloft. The aircraft will remain in the corn field until crops are harvested. No bio-hazard exists as the aircraft payload was rye seed. Aircraft removal was authorized from the corn field to owner?s hangar (less than a mile) so a more detailed inspection may be accomplished. Aircraft is not released at this time pending further inspection. ?end-
