From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On September 9, 2020, the pilot (PIC) met with the CFI from learn 2 fly CT located at hfd around 3PM, with the purpose of receiving flight training so that the pilot can get checked out for solo rental for this aircraft N520AT Pipistrel Alpha Trainer light sport aircraft. The pilot and the CFI fueled the aircraft and performed the preflight. The pilot taxied to the run up area and performed the engine run up, the pilot reported no issues with the aircraft. The aircraft departed hfd and headed to windham airport (ijd), for training to perform touch and go's, the pilot also requested to do a stall so that he could experience the feel of the aircraft during a stall. The pilot performed the stall with no issues, then performed 4 approaches with touch and go's and full stop. The aircraft departed ijd heading to hfd. The pilot contacted hfd tower, hfd tower gave instructions to runway 20. When the aircraft entered the pattern the controller amended the instructions to give way to another aircraft. Pilot then received the clearance to land. The pilot configured the aircraft for landing. The pilot stated he heard the CFI make 2 comments during the approach, watch your airspeed and remember this is a displaced threshold. The CFI stated that coming across the threshold when the aircraft began to loose airspeed he shouted watch your airspeed followed by airspeed. On landing approach the aircraft passed the threshold, the pilot began the round out and flare, pilot stated he noticed airspeed indicating 48-49 knots, the aircraft stalled still having forward motion, dropped and landed on the mains, hit the tail then the nose and the aircraft began to porpoise down the runway. Once control of the aircraft was achieved the aircraft exited the runway, pilot made contact with the tower and taxied back to the ramp. Pilot and CFI inspected the aircraft and noticed the prop had damage from hitting the runway and the tail skid plate was gone. The skid plate was recovered by airport personnel. The pilot stated there were no issues with the aircraft performance, the CFI stated the same no issues with the aircraft.
