From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Experimental aircraft, N55893, configured with amphibious floats, with 2 persons on board attempted take-off on 3000' runway 25. Runway 25 is sloped uphill 1 degree with 50' obstacles(trees) at end. Wind was gusting from south to east at time of take-off. At about 40' AGL aircraft made a turn to north resulting in increased tail wind, flew between houses and trees until stall/spin. Struck ground 853' north of runway, left wing, left float and engine impacted contact first resulting in significant damage to all structures which remained mostly within 25' of point of impact. Both pilot and passenger were extracted from aircraft with injuries.
