From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed Greene County Airport (I19), runway 25 at approximately 1730 (EDT) to perform some annual recurrent training. After performing some airmanship maneuvers the aircraft headed to the springfield-beckley airport (sgh) to perform different landing/takeoff procedures on runway 24 and 15. Wind was reported as 190/09. After the third landing, the aircraft departed back to Greene County. The pilot stated that the landing gear would not retract, they tried cycling the gear again but it still did not retract. They had three green lights so they decided to leave the gear down. At Greene County, they performed the RNAV 25 approach. Wind was reported as 180/13 by cmh ATCT. While performing the crosswind landing procedure, the left main contacted the ground before the right main. As the aircraft rolled down the runway, the pilot stated he felt a vibration from the left gear and attributed it to a flat tire. The left wing continued to descend as the aircraft slowed down. The aircraft kept moving towards the left edge of the runway and right rudder/braking input could not stop it. The aircraft departed the left side of the runway and into the grass with the left wing tip sliding in the grass. The wing skin around the pitot mast on the left wingtip was damaged. The left main gear strut was broken in two, rotated 90 degrees, was under the left flap and the tire had damaged the flap. The wheel/strut was still attached by the brake line and squat switch wiring. The tire was still inflated and showed signs of scuff marks on the outer edge. The runway showed signs of a wide scuff mark from the left tire for 1,400 feet. No damage to the prop or nose gear. No injuries to the occupants.
