From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed from private residence in plant city FL at aprox 1500 hrs EST. In route to kcrg craig field jax, approximately 20 minutes into flight, at approx. 450 feet altitude pilot perceived a binding sound with a reduction power accompanied by a slight left nose yaw. No annunciator or engine out warnings were immediately evident. The low rotor RPM aural alarm eventually sounded. Going thru approximately 150 feet, pilot performed an aggressive flair for zero forward airspeed and maintained the flair to drop the aircraft, tail low into a stand of slash pines. After settling, initiated fuel valve shutoff, boost pumps breakers pulled and throttle shutoff to cut engine. Pilot was able to walk away to a local road and seek help. No one was injured in the crash.
