From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At about 10:30 on 10/24/202 aircraft N7029T, a Cessna 172, suffered significant damage during a hard landing just short of runway 6 at airport 18AZ in Carefree Arizona. The pilot stated that while enroute from dvt to payzon, Arizona, when smoke was observed coming from behind the instrument panel. He decided to land at 18AZ to look at the airplane. While on final approach to runway 6, the airplane stalled from about 10 feet AGL and landed hard, about 20 feet short of the runway. The pilot?s medical indicated that he must use hearing amplification. He was using noise canceling headset for hearing amplification and he did not hear the stall warning horn. The passenger thinks she heard the horn. The NTSB had the airport fire department personnel confirm flight control continuity from the control yoke to the elevator and apply air pressure on the pitot tube, and observed movement of the airspeed indicator.
