From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While the flight instructor (pilot in command) was giving dual flight training to the owner of the aircraft the landing gear would not come down while on approach to John Wayne Airport (Sna). The pilot selected the landing gear down but there was an indication in the cockpit that the gear was not down. A flyby the tower confirmed the gear appeared to be partialy down. The pilot performed emergency checklist procedures but still could not get the gear to come down. The aircraft landed on its belly at Sna rwy 20R and skidded to a stop with minor damage.
