From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman was conducting pattern-work and ran out of fuel before reaching the runway. The airman elected to land the aircraft off airport on a field. He called a friend to bring him 5-gallons of avgas and the plan was to taxi back to the airport, about 2 miles. After starting the engine and beginning the taxi down the a road back to the airport, the airman elected to apply full power and fly back to the airport to save time. During the takeoff roll, a car entered an intersection. The airman pulled back on the controls and entered a stall. The airplane lost control and ended up in a field with substantial damage.
