What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The aircraft was operating as a part 91 and being used as a multi-engine trainer. The pilot receiving instruction was at the controls. The aircraft landed on runway 34L at Van Nuys (vny). Weather was VFR, winds 330 degrees @ 09 KTS, gusting to 15KTS. Upon landing roll-out, the aircraft started drifting to the left. The flight instructor (CFI) took over the controls initially believing there was a flat tire. After a few moments, the left wing started lowering to the ground. This was described by the CFI as a ?gradual collapse?. The aircraft came to a stop with the left wing resting on the ground. There were no injuries. The CFI indicated there were no indications of an abnormal situation; the landing was smooth and tracking straight down the runway. Upon inspection, the left-hand main landing gear had partially collapsed inward. The over-center mechanism was in place and the hydraulic actuator fully extended.
