From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot attempted to takeoff from a private residence in the desert surrounded by what the pilot identified as many takeoff and landing areas.

The pilot initiated his takeoff roll to the south east. About 250FT into the takeoff the airplane encountered wind from the south west about 10KTS and the left wing tip struck one of the arms of a saguaro cactus which caused the aircraft to loose altitude and impact the ground.

Recommendation from the operation's inspector assigned are to have the pilot 44709 re- examined for the ground portion only
