From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While on final approach to tjmz/maz at approximately 400' AGL the crew hatch opened striking the upper fuselage structure and swung back into the cabin before being blown back out again. The door struck the left forearm and elbow of pilot causing several lacerations. Aircraft remained stable on approach path and pilot landed aircraft without incident. There were 5 pax onboard and VFR weather prevailed. After evaluation of the crew door and surrounding structure, the crew door latch mechanisms performed satisfactorily and minor damage to upper skin structure was found. Cause of crew door opening was unable to be determined. PIC will be retrained to company policies and procedures for operation with crew door open and proper crew door closure prior to departure.
