From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot's statement:

"I was cleared to land on runway 5R. The wind was reported as calm although I felt I had a slight tail wind while landing. Touchdown was normal, however approximately during the last portion of the rollout, the aircraft developed a severe shimmy. I was able to easily taxi off the runway. When I arrived at parking, I got out and checked the nose gear and found that the shimmy damper had departed the aircraft. I immediately contacted ground control and told them that there may be debris on the runway and they sent a truck out to search for it. The truck driver brought the debris (shimmy damper and parts) back to me".

As the FAA filed it
