From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/8/21 at approximately 1100 local, aircraft departed exx and was inbound for jqf with a student in the left seat and CFI in the right seat. When the aircraft was approximately 2 NM out from jqf turbulence began to increase, crosswinds were experienced and CFI called the controls. Just prior to touch down, the aircraft got pushed to the left of centerline in a crosswind and continued onto the grass where the PIC was able to safely bring the aircraft to rest. No injuries were reported.

Inspector opinion: action by the PIC allowed for a safe and controlled stop rather than applying hard braking and losing control of the aircraft by possibly over-correcting. This was solely a weather incident. (Sas ref. Id EA68202102500)
