From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

JETIT817 (N416JT) was on a flight from kclt to kblm. ATC issued multiple changes to both route and altitudes leading the pilots to request a diversion to kacy to make a fuel stop. While in clear air between two thunderstorm cells (maintaining more than 20NM distance from each) the aircraft experienced severe turbulence. The pilots reported their issue and continued on approach to kacy while ATC declared and emergency for them. Upon landing the noted substantial damage from hail.
