From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During the performance of a wheel landing (two main gear on the ground and tailwheel still in the air). As the aircraft slowed the pilot over-corrected on a rudder input so as soon as the tail wheel made contact with the runway he was unable to keep directional control of the aircraft (ran out of rudder authority due to the slow speed). This resulted in a right turning ground loop and departure from the prepared surface. Thus making contact with a runway light.

As the FAA filed it
